Stamford Sells Fourth $1,000,000 “Powerball” Prize Winning Ticket!
While the odds of winning a prize are the same anywhere CT Lottery is played in the state, the city of Stamford has recently edged ahead as one of the luckiest places to buy a $1,000,000 Powerball
prize winning ticket.
The winning Powerball? numbers on January 21 were 11 - 12 - 15 - 28 - 57, the Powerball number was 23. In total, 11,558 winning Powerball tickets were sold in Connecticut for that date—including a $1,000,000 prize winning “Quick Pick” ticket sold at China Pavilion Variety on West Broad Street, Stamford.
“Out of the thirty Powerball ‘Match 5’ prize winning tickets sold in Connecticut since the new game began in January 2012, Stamford retailers have sold four of them,” said Diane Patterson, CT Lottery Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Not to mention the year before when Shippan Point Getty of Stamford sold a $254.2 million Powerball jackpot ticket—that’s a record that still stands today as the largest jackpot prize ever won in the state.”
“This is very exciting news,” said China Pavilion’s manager, Jessie Zhang. “We sold a $1,000,000 winning ticket before, but that was a scratch ticket. Two $1,000,000 prizes sold at one location…that’s real lucky!”
For selling the $1,000,000 prize winning ticket for January 21st, China Pavilion Variety will receive a $2,500 check from the CT Lottery. So did the three other Lottery retailers in Stamford when they sold Powerball Match 5 winning tickets: Track News & Variety, Glenbrook General Store, and Shippan Candies.
