New Britain Man Wins “5 Card Cash” $255,555 Top Drawing PrizeYesterday Joseph Zianio of New Britain joined the growing list of 5 Card Cash winners as the 11th lucky person to claim the game’s $255,555 top drawing prize. On January 7th, the “cards” on Zianio’s 5 Card Cash ticket were a perfect match to the winning hand drawn for that date: 8S - AH - QD - 10H - 3D (8 of Spades, Ace of Hearts, Queen of Diamonds, 10 of Hearts, and 3 of Diamonds).
“It was a big surprise!” Zianio told lottery officials. “I scanned my ticket in the ticket checker and saw the $255,555 prize, then I scanned it a few more times. I couldn’t believe it!”
In addition to Zianio’s $255,555 top prize winning ticket, 232 tickets contained a “Draw Win” match for prizes ranging from $20 to $555. A total of 14,107 tickets contained “Instant Win” prizes ranging from a $2 (free ticket) to $555. Since ticket sales began on May 4, 2014, more than 5,358,400 winning 5 Card Cash tickets have been sold to date.
“I’m a happier person right now,” Zianio quipped as he received his prize check from Lottery officials. “It’s going to make life a little easier. I’m going to pay off my mortgage, buy a new car for my wife, and go on a long vacation this summer to Poland.”
Zianio’s winning ticket was purchased at Liquor Outlet at 238 Allen Street in New Britain. Liquor Outlet will receive a $2,500 check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.

Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
