Wallingford Man is 18th “Super Cashword 16” $50,000 Top Prize WinnerSo far, a total of 18 incredibly lucky people have claimed a $50,000 top prize in the CT Lottery instant game, Super Cashword 16. Last week, Edward Mattice of Wallingford was happily one of them.
“I stopped for gas and bought a Super Cashword ticket. When I scratched it, I thought I had 9 words for the $5,000 prize. When I scanned it in the ticket checker, it said it was a $50,000 winner.? There was a tenth word that I didn’t even know about. That’s when I quietly left the store,” said Mattice with a laugh.
The game Super Cashword, similar in style to a crossword puzzle, has been a long-time fan favorite since it was first launched by the CT Lottery in 2002. Those who enjoy the extended style of play, like Mattice, build prizes upon how many matches are made as the play is completed.
“Winning $50,000 is a little better than $5,000,” said Mattice jokingly as he accepted his prize winning check from Lottery officials. “We’re going to use it to put a deposit on a house.”
For selling the Mattice’s top prize winning ticket Q Mart, located at 810 S. Colony Road in Wallingford, will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
